Kaduthamsserry Kottaram

The sankalpamoorthy here is the Vallyappooppan. The 'Moopan'(Valiya Karanavar, the family head) of Kaduthamsserry Kurava family enjoys the right to perform poojas at Malanada. The Karanavar has the duty to ensure the welfare of the people belonging to 7 Karakal, excepting Edakkadu Kara.

Kizhakkebhagathu Appooppan Kshethram

It is the most prominent among other places of worship associated with Malanada temple. Kizhakkebhagathu Appooppan is the nephew of Malanada Appooppan, although annoyed and antagonized, is faithful to his uncle. He provides alms and shelter to all who seek solace from ‘Vallyappooppan’ and offers to ‘Vallyappooppan’ whatever he receives in return. It is believed that the nephew makes Malanada temple rich and prosperous. As bequeathed by ‘Valliappooppan’, ‘Kizhakkebhagathu Appooppan’ looks after Edakkad kara which is one among the seven karas of Malanada. Before Malakuda, ‘Kizhakkebhagathu Appooppan’ celebrates his annual festival on the 28th of Makaram every year, popularly known as ‘Uchcharam’.

Menakkasserry Kottaram

It is the abode of ‘Menakkasseril Appooppan’ who was the first ruler of the land including Malanada temple. The kottaram is believed to be the abode of 101 ‘Swaroopangal’.

Thekkupurathu Kshetram

Another ‘Thampuran’(Sidhan) from ‘Pandinadu’, who was a specialist in treating gastric problems occupied this temple as directed by ‘Vllyappooppan’. It is situate on the southern part of Malanada temple. People having gastric complaints worship here for solace.

Vadakkupurathu Kshetram

It is situated on the north of Malanada temple. ‘Vallyappooppan’ allotted this temple to the ‘Thampuran’(Sidhan), who came from ‘Pandinadu’ and specialized in treating ophthalmic problems. People having ophthalmic problems find solace by making offerings here.

Chempitta Kottaram

The sankalpamoorthy is a Siddhan specialized in the treatment of mental disorders. The temple roof is covered by copper sheets. There is a myth about this copper roof of the temple. Brahmins do the pooja yearly twice on 1st Vrischikam and 1st Friday of Meenam.

Gurukkalsserriyil Kottaram (Bhagavathy Temple)

The Sankalpamoorthy is Devi or Bhagavathy. It was the military centre and the storehouse for arms of Vallyappooppan. The Kalari Gurukkal teaching martial arts lived here. Their descendents perform martial arts before ‘Kaduthamsserry Kottaram’ on ‘Kodiyettam Day’ every year. They also have the right to conduct the ritual, ‘Thookkam’at Malanada Temple.

Vallyathu Kottaram

‘Vallyathu Appooppan’ is the sankalpamoorthy here. He is one among the ‘Naluveedanmar’ who assist ‘Kaduthamsserry Appooppan’ in the general and special administration.

Pulisseriyil Kottaram

The sankalpamoorthy here is Poolisseriyil Ammoomma. There was a well built and neat cattle shed which sheltered the cattle stock like bullocks, buffalos and milk cows. Paddy, cereals and other crops after harvesting were used to be stored in the big store houses attached to the kottaram. It was considered as the centre of fertility.

Elanjimoodu or Manankaravila Ksethram

The Sankalpamoorthy here is the calm and serene ‘Siddhan’ in exile from Tamilnadu. He loves peace and looks after ‘Venkulam’ Ela.

Muhurthy Kavu

The ‘Muhurthy sankalpam’ is one of the other worshipping places associated with Malanada Temple. Poojas are restricted to two days in a year.

Kettungal Devi Temple

The main deities are Durga, Bhadra and Goshalakrishnan. Kettungal family enjoys certain privileges like the Kalasam, Vedi Vazhipad and the right to depute two family members to Malanada temple administration committee. The ‘Kalasakkaran’ accompany ‘Oorali’ along with ‘Naluveedanmar’ on Malakkuda day.

Ummasserry Kavu

Here ‘Ummasserry Kavilamma’ is the sankalpamoorthy. The poojas are done by members of the ‘Pulaya’ community.

Deva Kunnu Mala

Here poojas are performed by members of the ‘Pulaya’ community. It is believed that Duryodhanan in search of the ‘Pandavas’ in exile first came on the top of this hill and had an aerial view of the locality. From there he could see the light from ‘Kaduthamsserry family’ which led him to Malanada hill. During the ‘Uchcharam festival at ‘Kizhakkebhagom Temple’ the ‘Kettukazhcha’first go to this hill in a procession before entering the temple compound.
